Vermilion Flycather

Vermilion Flycather (Pyrocephalus rubinus) , brazilian name "principe", Pantanal, Brazil 2008
Unfortunately it was a very shy one and I couldn't manage to get closer for a better portrait.

  1. Andor : Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. Just to clarify your query on why I have used a high ISO and taken those images at 1/2000-1/8000s. The lighting was pretty harsh and I wanted to darken the background and ensure I don't blow out the details of the Kestrel, the only way I could darken the background is by shooting at high shutter speeds and hence the use of ISO 800.

I took the liberty of browsing through your blog. You have a beautiful blog with some amazing bird images...Thomas
